Ormes de Pez existed since 18th century in the landscape of the Medoc. Owned by the family Cazes, as well as Lynch Bages, the wine is classified as one of 9 Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnels in the 2003 listing.

The name of the wine take its origins from Pez – “peace” and elms (”ormes”) that have appeared on the bottle labels since 2003, they grew on the grounds of the domain until this mythical variety of tree ceased to grow in Europe in the 1950’s.

The mouth is fleshy with good body, while the tannins prove supple and ripe. The full-flavoured finish is marked by an aftertaste of spicy notes.

“Owned by the well-known Cazes family of Lynch-Bages, this popular St.-Estephe has turned out a dark ruby/plum-colored 2011 with sweet cassis and black cherry fruit. A slightly short finish is present, but the wine has a good front end-loaded combination of fruit, extract and succulence. Description

Reveals the personality of a great Saint-Estèphe, full of elegance and charm. The aromatic palette offers fresh notes of black fruits, blackcurrant and cherry. On the palate, the attack seduces with its dense and juicy texture. The wine also offers lasting tannins of great finesse, which combine with notes of the toasted oak barrel in which the wine aged, continuing to a persistent finish.

“Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 Ormes de Pez features black cherries and cassis notions over a core of fragrant earth, stewed tea and tobacco plus a waft of forest floor.
