Château Meyney

AOC Saint-Estèphe
Cru Bourgeois

Superbly located on a mound overlooking the Gironde estuary, the château lies at the center of a single block vineyard. The company CA Grands Crus, a fully-owned subsidiary of the Groupe Crédit Agricole, became, in 2004 the owner of Château Meyney.

The vineyard of Château Meyney overlooks the Gironde Estuary from its hillside reaching an altitude of 20 metres. The presence of the estuary protects the estate from frosts. It also benefits from a vein of blue clay in the subsoil at a depth of around 2,6 metres. The vein is 3-metre thick.

60 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 25 % Merlot, 15 % Petit Verdot

Description

The wine is ample, fleshy and structured, raised with attention to detail. When mature, it will develop the inimitable charm of the great Saint-Estèphe: complexity, harmony, balance.

Alcohol

12.5°

Blending

Cabernet-sauvignon 60 %, Merlot 30 %, Petit verdot 10 %

Description

The wine is strongly coloured, dense, exuberant, violent even in its youth, but marvellously resistant to the passage of time. As the years go by, it becomes smooth and velvety, whilst still retaining its generous structure.

Tasting

“Its cardinal purple gives real dignity to this 99 which celebrates with great pomp the successful marriage of aromas of currant, toast and smoke. On the palate, the wine is just as expressive with fatty tannins, good volume and a balanced structure. Enriched with nice minty notes, the finish concludes this tasting as pleasant as it is promising.”Hachette Guide of Wine

“Barrel sample. This wine is marked by new-wood spice and strong structure that showcases a sense of weight and spicy ripeness. The palate is powerful, while also maintaining a bold, juicy character”. – Wine Enthusiast
